The idea behind Study Buddies

Over the years as a parent and teacher, I have listened to other fellow parents about the stresses homework can cause within the family unit.  As a result, I have given ideas and activities to make homework more fun, manageable and relatable for the child, allowing it to work better for everyone involved. This was particularly true during the lockdowns where parents had to become teachers themselves with home-schooling - here I showed them how to be creative and make learning more enriching and engaging.

Being a qualified teacher I know how to get the most out of my students and know how to work the dynamics of the room so that everyone is achieving their best.  With Study Buddies, I aim to work with children and their parents to complete homework in a nurturing environment, with the necessary scaffolding, support and resources in order for the child to gain a sense of accomplishment and take ownership of their learning.

Working across the age groups, I know what the expectations are for each year group and where each child’s learning needs to go to progress further through their primary education learning journey.  I’ll share activities and games with parents, so that regular spelling and timetables practice can be continued at home throughout the week.

DATES

7-week half term bookings on Thursdays from 6th November 2025 to 18th December 2025

(All spaces for 2025 are now taken - we will be releasing more session in 2026!)

TIME

3:15pm (Year 1 & 2 students), or 3:30pm (Years 3-5 students) until 6:00pm

PARTICIPANTS

Years 1 - 5 South Farnham Primary School students

SCHEDULE

3:15pm: South Farnham Infants collected from school by Lucy Sartori

3:30pm: South Farnham Juniors collected from school by Lucy Sartori

3:45pm: Snack

4:00pm: Tutoring and homework activities

5:00pm: Dinner

5:20pm: If required, continue homework activities and tutoring.  After, there’s the option of doing Forest School-style activities, practical games to consolidate learning and take part in competitions set by South Farnham School.

6:00pm: Parents to collect their child

COST

Per Session Fee: £33 per session (per child)

Term Fee: £231 for 7 weeks for the November - December half term, 2025 (per child)

​

The fee covers everything required for the sessions, including:

• preparation and planning for activities

• resources and materials needed to work on homework tasks

• experienced qualified teacher tutoring

• after school snacks and dinner

• feedback given to parents / guardians on the session
